Hi All,
Last year I went to renew my CrossFit Level 2 training certification. It was at a gym in Portland and we dug into EVERYTHING fitness related. Movement, nutrition, mindset, all of it. But the CrossFit staff also has a great way of simplifying things, which I appreciate because elegant truths are often marked by simplicity.
By the way, VashonStrong is not currently affiliated with the CrossFit brand, but their training team is still one of the best in the industry and I love going to their courses. We disaffiliated from CrossFit in 2020 after they went through a brand crisis. Greg Glassman was the current CEO of the company and made an idiotic comment shortly after George Floyd's death and during the ensuing Black Lives Matter movement era. Then it was subsequently shown that the workplace at CrossFit HQ was mysognistic, hostile, and cult-like. We decided that since our community was self-sufficient enough without the CrossFit affiliation, we would go our separate ways and let CrossFit HQ work on itself a bit (which it has).
But back to the original story! There are so so so many training methodologies out there. The SIMPLE fact of the matter is that most people have two main issues when it comes to getting fit. It's not about which training methodology they choose as much as it is about consistency and effort.
We could all benefit from doing two things: Show up more, and try harder.
Boom.
Josh
