josh Thorn - Founder

 

Seen here taking his turn on the pullup bar in the Strawberry Festival while wearing a handmade Strawberry Costume, Josh started VashonStrong in 2017 when he was in between jobs as a Paramedic. Josh has been a lifelong athlete and originally went into emergency healthcare services, but then found he was more passionate about fitness as a means of helping people with their health. He wanted to build a community that would bring everyone together in fitness and strength. Eight years later, he is still happily working on making the gym the best facility and community led fitness revolution it can be. 

Josh holds many certifications through the body of CrossFit HQ such as: CrossFit Level 3, Kids, Gymnastics, and Weightlifting. He also holds a BS in Physics, Is a L1 Nutrition Coach through Precision Nutrition, and is trained in the Pain Free Performance system. With over 20 years of coaching experience across sports like skiing, wrestling, and tennis, he brings a deep, broad, and thoughtful perspective to fitness.

Juniper believes in the benefits of strength and conditioning beyond the physical: improved mental health, peri-and post-menopause resiliency, and more. NSCA-CPT, Precision Nutrition L1, CrossFit L1, Trauma Informed Weightlifting.

Tanna Baggenstos

Tanna started CrossFit in 2015 and started coaching in 2017. Then became a college strength and conditioning coach at the university of Utah for 3 years where she coached the softball team, tennis team, swim team and beach volleyball team. Since then she's done private sport performance training for athletes ages 5-18+ as well as train people of all fitness experience to help them achieve their goals and enjoy exercise in the process!
