The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago. The second best time is now.
I get it - I understand life gets busy. You think, "I can't add one more thing, and I've been out of the game too long anyway". But i'm here to tell you, it's not too late. The best time IS now, and you will never be any younger than you are today.
Regardless of your age or experience level - In a month you could be moving with more energy because your VO2 Max has increased. You could feel stronger in your body because you train functional patterns in multiple directions against load. You could feel more confident because you've challenged yourself with a variety of movements.
Your legs and back could feel fresher on a hike. Your lungs and heart stronger on a bike ride. Your hands and wrists and shoulders more capable after a long farm day. This isn't wishful thinking, it's small daily steps that change the direction of your physiology. It only takes a month of committing a small part of your day to physical training.
Don't start because of guilt. Don't move because you're afraid of what will happen if you don't.
Move because you want to be more alive in your body. Move because you want to express more energy in your life.
Every forest has a mix of trees, young and old, collaborating in a connected network of roots, soil, water, fungus, and light. And every young tree just needs a little sunlight, a little water, and a supportive environment. Not even very much, and though it may grow slowly, it doesn't stop.
You don't give up on planting trees just because they won't grow tall tomorrow, you plant them because they matter (and they're beautiful at every stage).
